Paua Shell

The necklaces at the left are both made from Paua Shell. Paua Shell comes from the inner shell of the Haliotis mollusk. The shells get their colors from the diet that eat and the lines come from the way they lay down the crystals that form their inner shell.

In the United States and Australia it is known as Abalone. However, the vibrate colors seen in these necklaces are only found in New Zealand.
